Leopold Sporties History
In 1971, Len Lewis and Kevin Ash, two locals, had an idea for a bowls club in Leopold. The idea took hold, a committee was formed, and money was raised. A location that would have enough space for two bowling greens and a clubhouse was needed. Finally, Kensington Road, our current location, and 5 acres were purchased for $8500.
In May 1975, Brian Dixon, the then Minister for Youth, Sport and Recreation, officially opened the club as a family-friendly sporting club.
You can see the results for yourself by visiting our club.
There are so many people to thank over many years for their support, encouragement and voluntary help, along with the original crew that helped establish the club.
